Advantages in Formulation
Existing drugs can gain the new functions listed below from Oxygenix's liposome formulations.
Drugs better contribute to the improvement of patients' quality of life (QOL) as they are more efficiently delivered to the affected areas.

Improvement of physicochemical stability
The physicochemical stability of drugs can be increased by inhibiting aggregation of particles and increasing dispersion stability.
This technology is most suitable for formulations that need to be stored for a long time at room temperature in solution. This property has been specifically useful for Oxygenix's leading product candidate, OXY-0301.

Our technology inhibits aggregation of particles and increases dispersion stability.
(The figure on the left side shows OXY-0301, Oxygenix's Oxygen Carrier as an example.)

Macromolecular compounds such as proteins and nucleic acids (DNA, RNAi, etc.) tend to become inactivated as a result of degradation or metabolism in human body. When encapsulated inside liposomes, they become more stable in the body and remain active over a longer period of time.
The release of drugs in the body can be controlled by encapsulating them in liposomes. This controlled release technology makes it possible to
(1) Reduce adverse reactions by flattening the peak of blood concentrations after administration
(2) Improve the patients' QOL by reducing the frequency of administration required.
Liposome preparations modified with antibodies and peptides, which recognize sugar chains specifically expressed by diseased cells, will accumulate in diseased cells and not normal cells.
